Teach Me With Your Eyes

Sit here with me silently

and teach me with your eyes

how to fade into the emptiness

with every passing sigh

why the bluejay in the tree

is really you

and so am I

and why you’re not afraid

to ultimately die.

Paint with me a picture

from the bluejay’s point of view

close your eyes and hear the music

feel it permeating you

teach me to forget he has a body

soft and blue

each note’s ephemerality

is all that’s ultimately true.
